We can also take bookings for private events for the whole restaurant area, or (soon) garden.
Obviously, for large bookings, we may need to arrange additional food/drink/staff, and for this reason we may ask for a non refundable deposit with your booking, which goes towards the cost of food and drink when you arrive. We understand there can be genuine reasons to cancel a booking, so if you need to, please contact us as soon as possible. Any refund of a deposit is entirely at our discretion.
Whilst it is a very nice restaurant and pub atmosphere (and we literally monitor CO2 levels to check), with low level background music, we do aim to cater for a range of tastes, so there are some evenings with live bands. These are likely to be standing room only, and good fun for all. The diary of upcoming events (above) should show these, but please do check on Facebook for more details.
We do not have a TV in the bar - this is not a sports bar, but once the garden is complete there may be some events in the garden. Once again, check the diary (above).
The rear of the pub is normally reserved for the restaurant (except when there are live bands). The kitchen has been refurbished from scratch, and offers excellent quality British food. Booking is recommended. Food is also available in the bar area (space permitting). Hygiene rating pending.
Coming soon …. Our new exciting garden will be an oasis on both dry and wet days! Planned before the summer 2025 it will be wheelchair/pushchair friendly. This may also be booked for private events from time to time, and some public TV events.
Well behaved dogs, and their well behaved owners, are welcome. Bear in mind there may be other dogs in the bar. Do ask if you (or your dog) need a bowl of water. However we ask that anyone eating in the restaurant area refrain from bringing dogs - you are welcome to eat in the bar area, space permitting.
We have excellent high speed WIFi Internet for customer usage, inside and outside. Please do scan the QR code on signs in the bar, or ask staff for any help you need connecting. None of those annoying signup pages - we don't collect any data from you - just good fast reliable Internet access.
We have had a lot of support from local companies and would like to recommend them. We aim to support local businesses wherever possible.
The Vaults, Market Street, Abergavenny, NP7 5SD.
The Brewery Yard car park is in front of The Vaults - they charge from 8am to 6pm and are closed on Tuesdays (market day) and for some events (food festival). There are many other car parks, but they are often busy on market day as well. Note that the Morrison's car park is for Morrison's customers, and we know from experience that they enforce their time limits with cameras.
Market Street has loading/unloading places. Whilst most drivers will know the area, please be aware that the obvious route to Market Street (which you may find your GPS suggests) via Cross Street, is closed 10am to 4pm. You can access via the Brewery Yard car park, (A40, to Priory Lane, to Lion Street, to car park), except on Tuesdays (market day), and during some events (food festival). At other times you need to park nearby and walk in to Market Street.
Whilst the hallway is narrow, and there is a very slight step, the bar and restaurant are generally accessible for wheel chairs and buggies. Customers with double width buggies have sometimes found the door slightly too narrow.
There are also full disabled public toilets opposite the front.
The garden is not accessible (steep steps), but a new deck is planned for the summer 2025, which will be.
We'd love to know more of the history. Do follow us on Facebook and let us know.
We have found some pictures some old pics.
